Aaron Carter responds to back tax claims

Aaron Carter's manager has responded to reports that the popstar owes more than $1 million (£595,647) in back taxes.

Papers filed by the Internal Revenue Service this week suggested that the Dancing With The Stars contestant owed money dating back to 2003.

In a statement to ET Online, the 21-year-old' s manager Johnny Wright blamed the situation on "gross mismanagement" .

"It is unfortunate that while Aaron was a minor, his finances were grossly mismanaged by his previous team which has lead to the current situation of which he was unaware until today," he explained.

"Aaron is working with a new team to take appropriate actions towards speedy resolution of the matter and looks forward to putting this behind him and moving forward with the next stage of his music career. "
